Healthcare Access

Healthcare access is a determinant of health – it is one of the greatest persisting inequities most recently evident by the varying outcomes of the COVID-19 pandemic. My current research is focused on what I see as the greatest injustice — healthcare access.

As such my two current projects with Dr. Tiffany Veinot are focused on informing, designing and implementing meso-level and multi-level interventions that target inequitable healthcare access. This includes examining how to address transportation barriers to healthcare appointments through the application of timebanks. My other project is focused on examining how complexity is introduced through telehealth, and how the use of “digital navigators” can help patients navigate through this complexity so that time during their telehealth visits is spent on their healthcare needs and not troubleshooting a technology.
